Erasmus Hookups Dos and Don'ts

An Erasmus hookup can be exciting, fun and rewarding and this is why many individuals are beginning to explore the opportunities that it provides.
However, if care is not taken, many things can go wrong quickly; thus, leading to a plethora of issues. To mitigate these potential problems, here are the dos and don'ts of
Erasmus hookups that everyone must be aware of.

Dos

Be nice and friendly
Although an Erasmus hookup will probably not lead to anything serious, it is important for you to be nice to your partner. Don't be a jerk because you feel it is just about sex and other amorous engagements. So, be nice and friendly. Make sure you treat the other person well as long as they are not rude to you.
Always use condom
Irrespective of how the other person looks and assures you of their testing for different infections, you should always use condoms when having sex. By using condoms, you can avoid any kind of sexually transmitted diseases that the other person may have. Also, it helps you prevent unwanted pregnancy that may complicate the short-lived relationship that you are meant to have with the other person.
Be open to learning more about the other person
One beautiful thing about Erasmus hookups is that your partner probably has a culture or background that differs from yours. So, the hookup may be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the culture and tradition of the other person. Hence, you should open your mind to learn more about your partner.
Be clear with your expectations
Before meeting up with the other person, have a clear idea of what you want from the hookup. In addition, you should not shy away from letting your partner know your expectations. With this, you can avoid any issues that may lead to disappointment when the partner fails to meet up with your expectations.
Have fun
Don't let your worries about the possibility of things that could happen or what could go wrong affect you. Let go of the worries and have fun with the other person.

Don'ts

Don't use alcohol
Many people believe that they can boost their confidence with the help of alcohol. While this is true to an extent, alcohol can also make you lose control of the whole situation. Being intoxicated can make you behave irrationally which you may regret later.
Don't allow pressure to make you do what you don't want
Your partner may want you to do things that you don't want. If you succumb to pressure, you may take an action that will have significant negative impacts on your life. So, don't succumb to pressure. Let your no be no.
Don't lose your guard
Depending on the look and demeanor of the other person, it can be quite easy to lose guard. However, this can be dangerous in some cases. So, be cautious. Don't keep the hookup a secret from your friends so that they can come to your aid if something goes wrong.
Finally, before going for an Erasmus hookup, take another look at these dos and don'ts to make sure that the hookup is not only safe but it is also exciting and memorable.

Condoms too small for Ugandan men

Times of India reports how misfit condoms effect the rise of AIDS in Uganda.
Apparently, many Ugandan men find the regular condoms too tight why they rather avoid using them.

Consequently, this leads to higher spread of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
This is obviously a serious problem.
The questions that naturally arises while thinking about this - why don't they offer them LARGE condoms?!?

Knowing the Best Condoms

Using condoms is the most effective way to prevent sexual diseases as well as unwanted pregnancy. If used consistently and correctly it can prevent the spread of diseases. There are condoms for male and female use. These are the two main types of condoms. The male condom covers the male organ and catches the sperm or semen at one end. The female condom on the other hand is a sheath that is inserted into the vagina.

Condoms are usually made of latex or polyurethane. Most people prefer latex condoms because of its reliability and availability. Latex condoms are generally available in drugstores or convenience stores. Latex condoms can be used with water-based lubricants. Oil-based lubricants should be avoided since it breaks down the latex. It is not established if latex is stronger than polyurethane but both types break when not used properly in accordance to the manufacturer's recommendations.

The efficiency of condoms as birth control tools has increased with the use of spermicides. These spermicide are chemicals formulated to eliminate sperm presence that may lead to pregnancy. Spermicides contain chemicals that previously were believed to kill sexually transmitted diseases and HIV which causes AIDS. However, new findings show that spermicides may facilitate the transmission of HIV. Therefore, use condoms in conjunction with spermicides for better protection.

Using a condom even if it contains some spermicides, is better than unprotected sexual intercourse. It is important that you avoid sex with multiple partners to entirely protect yourself from sexually transmitted disease and possibly AIDS. Condom pluses and cons

Here are some some condom pluses and cons from one survey:

Condom pluses:

- It has already been mentioned, but it's worth repeating - preventing sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy.
- Not expensive, easy to carry in your pocket or bag, can be bought almost in every store or online and you do not need any special permission by a doctor or parent, nor do you have to be of certain age to be allowed to purchase or use them.
- Condoms may even help guys to keep a longer erection.

Cons of a condom:

- Many (boys and girls) complain that condoms spoil the enjoyment.
- Some of the male population are complaining that it is time to put a condom reduces sexual desire and all that process some consider very frustrating.

It should be noted that these negative things about condoms are mainly psychological in nature, they are in your head, because psychologists believe - if you feel comfortable with your partner, everything else in connection with a condom won't matter!

Would you add something to the list? ;)
