Knowing the Best Condoms

Using condoms is the most effective way to prevent sexual diseases as well as unwanted pregnancy. If used consistently and correctly it can prevent the spread of diseases. There are condoms for male and female use. These are the two main types of condoms. The male condom covers the male organ and catches the sperm or semen at one end. The female condom on the other hand is a sheath that is inserted into the vagina.

Condoms are usually made of latex or polyurethane. Most people prefer latex condoms because of its reliability and availability. Latex condoms are generally available in drugstores or convenience stores. Latex condoms can be used with water-based lubricants. Oil-based lubricants should be avoided since it breaks down the latex. It is not established if latex is stronger than polyurethane but both types break when not used properly in accordance to the manufacturer's recommendations.

The efficiency of condoms as birth control tools has increased with the use of spermicides. These spermicide are chemicals formulated to eliminate sperm presence that may lead to pregnancy. Spermicides contain chemicals that previously were believed to kill sexually transmitted diseases and HIV which causes AIDS. However, new findings show that spermicides may facilitate the transmission of HIV. Therefore, use condoms in conjunction with spermicides for better protection.

Using a condom even if it contains some spermicides, is better than unprotected sexual intercourse. It is important that you avoid sex with multiple partners to entirely protect yourself from sexually transmitted disease and possibly AIDS. Condom pluses and cons

Here are some some condom pluses and cons from one survey:

Condom pluses:

- It has already been mentioned, but it's worth repeating - preventing sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy.
- Not expensive, easy to carry in your pocket or bag, can be bought almost in every store or online and you do not need any special permission by a doctor or parent, nor do you have to be of certain age to be allowed to purchase or use them.
- Condoms may even help guys to keep a longer erection.

Cons of a condom:

- Many (boys and girls) complain that condoms spoil the enjoyment.
- Some of the male population are complaining that it is time to put a condom reduces sexual desire and all that process some consider very frustrating.

It should be noted that these negative things about condoms are mainly psychological in nature, they are in your head, because psychologists believe - if you feel comfortable with your partner, everything else in connection with a condom won't matter!
